MMAB has put in significant effort in this case from every aspect and has working with Child Welfare Committee in ensuring the safety and well-being of the child victim and providing all required support.
MMAB members have also contributed toward the welfare of the child and appropriate child fund to be procured on her behalf. MMAB also assisted few members summoned by Law enforcement agency
pertaining to this case.
With few incidents in the past where few Manipuri families have employed children from Manipur as domestic helper, got escalated impacting the family member and also brought significant disrepute to
small community of Manipuri based here in Bengaluru.
MMAB would like to request all the members to refrain from employment of child (child means a person who has not completed 18 years of age) as domestic helper. Please note employment of child is a criminal offence and under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.
It is also the responsibility of all members to report such case and appeal all MMAB members to refrain from employment of child as domestic helper. This is for welfare of the society and people who would
have employed child without realizing the consequences.
MMAB has a dedicated Women Committee to provide any required support and assistance related to women and children.
MMAB is also working with an NGO (Bachpan Bachao Andolan) on how we can conduct few awareness sessions in ensuring such child employment & abuse is not repeated in future, ignored and members know what appropriate measures need to be initiated if such incident are noticed.
