Centre to honour Rani Gaidinliu

A year-long centenary celebration to honour late Rani Gaidinliu, described as ‘Naga spiritual leader’ will be kicked off on August 24 by prime minister Narendra Modi in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. It was also learnt that Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya including chief minister T.R. Zeliang along with a delegation of ministers and parliamentary secretaries and others would also be attending the launch in New Delhi.
Sources also disclosed, that President, Pranab Mukherjee was not likely to attend the convocation at NIT Chumukedima on August 24 for other reasons. A commemorative five-rupee and 100-rupee coins would also be issued as part of the celebration.
