Centre to create 1L jobs in NE through plastic industry

The Centre is looking to generate one lakh jobs in the northeast through development of the plastic industry, Surjit K Chaudhary, secretary, chemicals and petrochemicals, ministry of chemicals and fertilizers, said.
Chaudhary, accompanied by representatives of ministry of MSME, DoNER, director general, CIPET, MD, BCPL and FICCI, has been leading a delegation to the NE since May 21 to promote the plastic industry in the region. Stating that the average per capita consumption of petrochemical in India stood at 8.759 kg per head, compared to 3.75 kg in the northeast, Chaudhary said pricing of polymer produced at the BCPL would be kept competitive for the northeast market.
