Faced with criticism over rejection of the Justice J S Verma’s recommendation on review of the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, the Centre has clarified that it would hold consultations with all stakeholders.
A day after President Pranab Mukherjee promulgated the Ordinance on crime against women, the UPA Government fielded two of its senior Cabinet Ministers to clarify Centre’s position. The Central Government’s inaction on Justice Verma panel’s recommendation on AFSPA has drawn maximum flak from human rights bodies.
