Canada keen to help N-E states
- Potential market for pig production
The Telegraph | Shillong, Dec. 8:
Canada has offered to help states of the Northeast to increase pig production.
Addressing a two-day workshop on Developing Pig Production in the Northeast that began here today, Alfred Wahl, the general manger of Peak, Swine Genetics, a Canada-based firm, said his country, with expertise in largescale pig production, was interested in the Northeast as the region had potential in terms of setting up of commercial piggery units.
He said Canada was looking at either selling semen or live pigs to the northeastern states and for this they were exploring the region’s market by way of deliberations through the workshop.
