We, the campaigners of the 'Justice for Richard Loitam’ would like to share our sincere gratitude to everyone who have mobilized, participated and inspired thousands to take to the streets and rally for justice.
We would also like to applaud those many members of this ever expanding Facebook group 'Justice for Richard Loitam’, who have taken the lead in their respective area and organized simultaneous rallies across the country to seek justice for Richard, who today is fast becoming an icon for justice.
Richard, in the last 11 days have inspired more than 190,000 people to join the Facebook group and shared a common platform and have collected more than 18,000 signatories in 3 days for a petition address to the Honourable Prime Minister demanding justice.
People from different parts of the country have come together sharing their solidarity and with a common ‘voice’ calling on the nation for justice to be given to Richard Loitam and his family, and create a sense of justice in this largest democracy of the world.
On the 29th April, campaigners from different parts of the country made a common call to demand justice for Richard. The capital and Imphal resonate in synchrony along with the beautiful cities of Hyderabad, Nainital, Pune, Gwalior that Loitam Richard deserves justice as any other citizen of this country. This spontaneity of the campaign is also seen among justice seekers of the Manipuri community in Bangladesh, Russia, Srilanka and Nepal who offered prayer and flowers for the departed soul.
We are grateful to all campaigners who are planning more campaign rallies across the country in the coming days and extend our best wishes in their endeavour.
We request the leaders of our country to notice and acknowledge this movement, where thousands from every north-eastern state have joined hands with many fellow citizens from across the country demanding a thorough investigation that can bring about rightful justice. Our campaigners, who are the future of this country, wish to see this nation built on a fair and transparent judicial system, and stand together with every Indian of all race, ethnicity, religion and region.
We would also like the opportunity to request our members and everyone who support the campaign to please use only the democratic and most humane means to advance the movement and inspire many more fellow Indians and well wishers across the world to join the campaign.
And most importantly, we thank Facebook for providing a platform that has enabled people to empower and spearhead the campaign for Justice.
Thanking you,
'Justice for Richard Loitam’ Group
