Business is a business of business

Everything is possible in business; ups and downs are the main ingredients of business life cycle. One should not panic when downturn strikes one’s business. In fact, business owner should look at it as an inevitable trend that will occur occasionally.
If you are unable to survive this free fall, then your business is likely at the bottom end or perhaps you might be reduced to bankruptcy or thrown out of business. Instead of crying over it, organizations should be well prepared in advance and stay alert before these trend starts to flow so that measures can be taken up proactively.
Knowing this downturn in advance is like putting your sixth sense at work. Use it.
It is the duty of the manager to keep track of these trends and report them to the employer at the earliest possible time, so that preemptive measures can be taken up collectively to chalk out plans to control the situation. This needs a lot of cooperation between the manager and the employer.
Here I would like to point out a few problems and solutions that generally happen in the business houses particularly in the context Manipur.
When a new manager joins a new company/firm and yet before he is settled down the employer expects that his new manager have come equipped with all the knowledge and skills required to run his business. Now he thinks that he can heave a sigh of relief and let alone run his business by his able manager.
On the other side, the new manager is trying to understand the intricacies of the business. To understand the core of the business, the manager needs lot of hard work to do, provided all relevant information of the business is being made freely available to the manager.
If this flow of data is not made available then it becomes very difficult for the manager to align himself with the business and he is not able to perform as expected, which is a losing situation to both the manager and the organization.
To overcome this situation, the managers as well as the employers should make sure that no communication gap exists at all levels of the organization and enough time should be given for the manager to digest the nature of the business. Only then, the manager can apply his managerial skills acquired from his business studies and experience.
Moreover, effort should be made by both the managers and the business owners to bridge this gap to the point that no complications arise due to lack of transparency by both the stakeholders.
Another solution is to organize frequent workshops and seminars and create a platform whereby the aspiring managers and the entrepreneurs can meet and interact freely with every possible matters relating to the day-to-day affair of the business world. This would definitely help in sorting out some of the problems facing the business houses of Manipur.
If not all, at least a few problems can be addressed, which will be a harbinger for development of the overall economy of Manipur.
