Breaking Point
Soffy Nongmeikapam *
For many reasons I thought of you with love today.
You always gave me hope when I couldn't go further.
You were always proud in my every little triumph.
You always stood strong through all the pain.
You didn't fail to guide me even when you were lost.
Yes, you were my best leaning post.
Words cannot say how hope fell apart that Wednesday;
Oh, to see the pyre set ablaze on fire.
My body shivered, my heart bruised with pain.
My world bound in fears, filled with grief.
The tide of life humbled that day in defeat.
Such were the things that ignited a fire within me.
I would write a million pages without fear today;
Even if words don't spill my feelings right.
And how hard a fact it is to accept
All I have now is just your picture in a frame.
Every time listening to your favorite songs from the 70's
I would picture myself back to our days together.
Today I swear to live my life in your honor,
For you meant the world to me.
Such a big breaking point your demise was in my life,
But there's one thing I would call precious,
You being there for my first breath
And me being there for your last breath.
