A social enterprise to work on human resources development of the North East India region with the name of Brahmaputra Foundation was launched by Shri Kiren Rijuju, Honourable Minister of State, Home, Government of India at Guwahati today.
Brahmaputra Foundation shall work on the three aspects of human resources development of North East India, viz. education, skills and talent development.
Tanushree Hazarika, Founder & Director of the initiative emphasised on the immense potential of the people of the region in particular areas of film-making, music and sports and that most of these talent remains unutilized because of lack of right mentoring and guidance which shall be the bridge that this Foundation shall aim to build.
The Foundation would work on the Discover – Empower – Promote approach for skills and talent development that its various initiatives and programmes.
Sunit Jain, also Founding Director of the Foundation spoke about platforms, exposures, and opportunities that this Foundation would create for the people of this region in various areas of skill sets and talents that is currently inadequate.
He said, that the Foundation would forge a lot of Partnerships with premiere National and International Partners and work closely with the local Government agencies at the community level to offer skill development through formal training, mentoring to empower the youth to lead sustainable lives.
Popular music icon, Angarag Mahanta (Papon) and leading Film Director at Bollywood, Reema Kagti are also Directors on the Foundation.
