Bembem Devi keeps parting promise

Oinam Bembem Devi, the veteran heroine of national women's football, ended her career on a high in front of 22,000 fans here today as India retained their South Asian Games gold medal, beating Nepal 4-0 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
India's goal machine Kamala Devi scored a brace (32nd and 56th minutes) while Bala Devi and Ashalata Devi added a goal each in the last 20 minutes. Playing her last international match, captain Bembem Devi said her teammates kept their promise of winning her a gold medal. She also said there was no disappointment in being unable to score as her teammates did the job for India.
