Bandh Call called by Peoples' Protection Forum for Arunachal (PPFA)
Itanagar: 29 February 2016
The People's Protection Forum for Arunachal (PPFA) is a social organisation formed to fight vociferously for the protection of the indigenous tribal populace of Arunachal Pradesh. The broader objectives of the organisation relate to the emancipation of the people belonging to all tribes and sub tribes of the state and to fight for their realisation of rights as provisioned within the protected status of the frontier state.
The recent political events being played out by vested political interests is not in line with the greater interests of the people of the state. The multiple political parties and their representatives have failed to preserve and exercise their duties towards their constituents who have vested their electoral faith in them. The Hon'ble Governor has also crossed the line , used his office in a partisan manner finally subjecting the peaceful people to President's Rule without any substantive rationale or reason. The manner in which it was revoked clearly testifies to the absence of a proper ground for imposition. Thus, the sanctity of the state as one of the most peaceful was compromised grossly by a constitutional authority even after subjecting its people to an endless web of litigations in the Highest Judiciary of the country.
The PPFA strongly condemns the acts of the Governor and calls for immediate redressal of the mistakes he has been committing. A constitutional office after all, cannot be subject to the whims and fancies of an irresponsible individual . This is a threat to democracy, development as well as to the peaceful co-existence amongst the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
The peaceful citizens of twin city Itanagar and Naharlagun, the Capital of the state have been dominated by fear psychosis because of the presence of central paramilitary forces and there have been many unreported tortures and misbehaviours committed to many citizens of the state by central forces across the state after forceful imposition of President Rules.
PPFA also vehemently condemns the unilateral order of the centre through the Governor of Arunachal J.P Rajkhowa by dismissing/terminating and demoting thousands of indigenous tribal officers of various departments which is not a subject matter of the Centre and such an action have discouraged/demoralised those efficient officers who have been rendering their tireless services for all round development of the state and will also dilute the 80:20 job reservation policy of the state.
In condemnation of the same , PPFA is hereby constrained to announce a 12 hours capital Bandh call as their first phase movement on 2nd March 2016 from 5 AM to 5 PM with following demands:
1. Immediate revocation of Governor's order cancelling all officiating posts and promotions which have affected thousands of families.
2. Immediate withdrawal of Para Military forces deployed in the state capital after imposition of President's Rule.
3. Immediate recall of Governor by the Centre.
However, Paramilitary, police personnel’s, Magistrate on duty, milk van, press persons, fire services and ambulance exempted from the Bandh.
