BNHS Basic Course in Ornithology
Did you know that owls can rotate their neck a maximum of 270 degrees (almost complete circle) but they cannot move their eyes? Are you fascinated by the colourful world of birds? If you want to learn more about these feathered friends, but don't know where to start due to your busy schedule, then here is a unique learning opportunity with online and face-to-face activities interwoven through the course work.
BNHS Basic Course in Ornithology is one-year online course. It provides an easy introduction to the pursuit of birding for those with little or no previous experience. The course provides the learner with flexibility to complete their study at home at their own pace and time that suits them. Anyone with an interest to learn about birds and its conservation can apply. On successful completion students will receive a certificate. Also as the name suggests, the course will develop basic skills required for pursuit of ornithology. Admissions are now open for July 2015 batch.
Last date of admission: 30th June 2015
Course duration: 1st July 2015 to 30th June 2016
Basic qualification: Minimum SSC (10th standard), with basic knowledge of computers – Science background is not mandatory
Course fee: Rs 9990 (includes online study material, online chat sessions, BNHS expertise and introductory and wrap-up camps at BNHS CEC, Mumbai)
Course Syllabus: Introduction, Classification and Anatomy, Bird Adaptation, Food and Diet, Woodland Birds, Breeding Biology, Grassland Birds, Bird Migration, Water Birds, Threatened Birds of India, Birds of Prey and Bird Conservation
Note: It is mandatory to attend any three of the five field camps that are a part of the course
