Times of India | TNN | Dec 31, 2011, 04.42AM IST
Joining the collective effort to take on and defeat the ruling Congress in the ensuing crucial tenth state assembly polls slated for January 28 next year, the BJP has joined the pre-poll opposition alliance.
"The formal announcement of joining the alliance would be made by our national spokesman Prakash Javedekar at a media conference here on Saturday morning," said the saffron party's state unit secretary (media cell) Laimayum Basanta Sharma on Friday evening.
With the joining of the BJP, the opposition alliance has now grouped with five parties. The other four include NCP, Manipur People's Party (MPP), JD (U) and RJD even as the ruling Congress has already announced of fielding its candidates from all sixty constituencies.
