Awareness camp on Women's issues focusing on Crimes against Women

Lions Club of Leimarol Imphal in collaboration with 12 Bihar Regiment of 9 Sector AR under IGAR(S) and Human Resource Development Academy, Ghari conducted a One day Awareness camp on Women’ issues focusing on Crimes against Women on 13th January 2015 on the occasion of the 137th birth anniversary of Melvin Jones, Founder of Lions Clubs International.
The programme provided a platform for interaction with the young boys and girls of the school about the various forms of harassment, their rights, preventive measures and drove home the point that both men and women have to work together to fight violence against women.
Speaking on the occasion, Lion P. Rajmani also spoke on Lionism and very various programmes of Lions Clubs International. Commanding officer of 12 Bihar Regiment expressed hope that this noble initiative with the army and Civil society would help in the progress of women in the changing dynamics of today volatile society.
Lt. Akhil Dhawan, Ms Nonibala Narengbam, Ms Premlata Thokchom and Ms Nandini Thockchom spoke as resource persons on the occasion. Lion Kh Manihar Singh, Region Chairperson, Cabinet members of Region X, Lion clubs International 322D attended function as well.
A special medallion was also presented to the Best Student of HRD Academy by Bihar Regiment of 9 Sector AR under IGAR(S).
