Attack halts work at dam site
The Telegraph | Imphal, March 17:
Construction at a dam site in Manipur's Chandel district has come to a complete halt after suspected armed NSCN (Isak-Muivah) cadres allegedly assaulted labourers last week, triggering fear among them.
The workers today said five armed persons had come down to the work site at a foothill near Heirok in the afternoon of March 10 and assaulted them with stones and sticks. The dam, located about 35km from Imphal, is being constructed across Wangjing river to provide irrigation water to the nearby paddy fields.
