Assam eliminated from Santosh Trophy

GUWAHATI, May 12
Till the break Assam were leading 2-0. But the boots were on the other foot in the second half as Chattishgarh made a tremendous fightback and netted four to eliminate the hosts from 65th edition of the National Football Championship forSantosh Trophy.
It was a knock-out pre-quarterfinal match of the meet at the Nehru Stadium here today and Assam custodian Jitu Chetry along with the defenders could be held responsible for the 2-4 defeat.
In other cluster league matches of the day here Services downed Karnataka 4-0.
In another match Uttarakhand beat Arunachal Pradesh 1-0.
At Kokrajhar: Indian Railways downed Meghalaya 3-0 while Maharashtra beat Sikkim 2-1.
At Bongaigaon: Tripura beat Mizoram 3-1 and Madhya Pradesh edged past Haryana 3-2.
At Nagaon: Delhi beat Nagaland 2-0 and Orissa outplayed Himachal Pradesh 6-0.
