Armed Forces Flag Day at Tamenglong
TAMENGLONG BATTALION CONDUCTS LECTURE AND DRAWING COMPETITION FOR STUDENTS OF TAMENGLONG ON ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY
Since 1949, 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought & continue to fight on our borders to safeguard our country.
To fulfil their duties, soldiers sacrifice a lot in their lives. Flag Day brings to the forefront our commitment of looking after our War Disabled Soldiers, Veer Naris and the Families of Martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country.
Commemorating Armed Forces Flag Day, Tamenglong battalion under the aegis of HQ 22 Sector Assam Rifles / IGAR (East) organized a Motivational Lecture and Drawing Competition for children at Tamenglong. The aim of the unit was to identify enormous potential in school going children who are the future of the country.
The event also spread awareness among the locals, especially children regarding the importance of Armed Forces and invoke feeling of patriotism. The Unit also organised a Drawing Competition for children on the occasion. The competition provided the opportunity to express ideas and emotions of children through their drawing.
The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony and refreshments. Locals thanked Assam Rifles for organizing the event to shape the future of younger generations and for giving them right direction in their careers.
The event ended with slogans of BHARAT MATA KI JAI” filling the air with patriotism. These small yet concrete steps to mould younger generations by the battalion will go a long way in establishing much stronger bond between locals and Assam Rifles.
