Are You Ready... ?
Dr. Thamsing Lamkang *
People often give special attention to the team who are the reigning champion in any given sports; such as the only country to win (5 times) FIFA World Cup winner a Brazil team; the (La Liga) winner Barcelona of Spain, or the Manchester United or City (EPL). In some sports, such as the basketball; the five members of a particular team may be great players, but if you don't have good reserves, it is as good as impossible to win all the matches.
It's not easy to start playing in a game directly from the bench, when the rest of the team and the opposition had been working hard on the pitch for sometime. It is difficult to become focused so quickly to start from cold. And that is why it is so important to have the players who are always ready to play; who can join their team and do well at whatever moment they enter amidst the game.
Have you notice that often in life, there are some young people who sit on the benches, letting older people get on with what needs to be done? It's always easier not to get involved in the struggles, and avoids the hassles that way. We may resort to little excuses for not doing anything; saying that, 'others can do it better' or 'they don't let me do it' or 'I'm still too young' or 'people will laugh at me', maybe we should recognize the truth-that we are neither prepared nor willing!
Leadership is people's business; one can easily understand the fact from the visionary leaders. A leader after leading for many years but now the time has come for retirement; and it's so important that the vision should continue even after he is gone. It is always appropriate to identify a leader among many others who has the same dream and passion for the caused. It has to be someone who is passionate as you, to continue what you were doing.
In the Bible we find many young and dynamic leaders who are always ready and willing to take-up the responsibilities. Jesus trained His disciples for more than 3 years. They are ordinary men but Jesus empowered them with His Holy Spirit to continue and fulfills His divine purpose until His return. The gospel reached our land today because of those trusted disciples that the gospel reached more than the half of world populations. In the Old Testament young leaders being replaced; Joshua substituted Moses, Elisa must prepare to take over from Elijah, Samuel from Eli, and also many others.
Whatsoever, a time will come for all to step-down and to step-up, or being replaced by the younger generations to continue. All will be taken over at the right time. What about you, are you prepared to take-up the new task? This is the moment to act. This is the time when the world needs your spiritual strength. The church needs your participation, right now! This is your hour! Are you available so that you can replace the older ones at the right time, or even to replace the incompetent to the world of science and technology?
As a player you must always be ready for the moment when your coach tells you to get into the field. You need to be available always to substitute or help other members of your team. We must be willing to start your work for the Lord!
Don't forget that to be willing and ready, you need to spent time to warm up. We can't claim your right to enter again if you are not fit and warmed up or you'd run the risk of severe injury. In the same way, we can't enter into God's work if we lack preparedness, in personal knowledge of God, in sharing through evangelism and in service and to the church. Don't simply accept the calls if you are not prepared: a good reserve is one who is ready to do everything at the given time. If someone is not in a condition to join the game, it is hardly worthwhile doing so!
The only person who is prepared to fight has the right to join the battle. ARE YOU READY?
"God Bless your leading if you have some to lead for Eternity!"
