The Institute invites applications from candidates who have passed M.Sc. for admission to the PhD programme in Life Sciences starting from January 2009. IBSD is an institute with excellent research facilities for sustainable development of bioresources using tools of modern biology. Broad subject area available for research programme at the Institute is Plant Bioresources and Microbial Bioresources.

Eligibility

  • Candidates shall be eligible for registration for a programme of research leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a subject under research programmes of the Institute , if he/she has obtained 55% marks in aggregate (B or B+ only in the 10 point scale) in the Master's Degree Examination.
  • A candidate belonging to SC/ST who has obtained 50% marks in aggregate in Master Degree examination shall be eligible for registration
PhD programmes
  • Admission to the PhD programme shall be done in the month of January
  • The programme will start on 1st week of January.
  • Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET/DBT JRF/ICMR JRF/ICAR JRF examination may be eligible for direct interview.
Selection procedure
  • Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited for a written qualifying test on 10th December 2008 at IBSD, at their own expense.
  • Candidates shortlisted from the results of the written test will be immediately informed on 12th December 2008 and invited for an interview on 26th December 2008 at IBSD, Imphal.
  • Candidates selected after interview will be immediately informed for the PhD programme of IBSD.
  • Candidates are requested to refer to the Institutes website (www.ibsd.gov.in/index.htm) for PhD Notifications and Syllabus for written examination.
Application procedure
  1. Application should be typed on A4-size plain paper in the format given below.
  2. Item 3 and 6 should be filled in as shown in the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.
  3. Each page of the typed application form should be SIGNED by the candidate.
  4. Completed application MUST BE accompanied with a crossed DEMAND DRAFT for Rs 300/-.in favour of Director, Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development at Imphal. A Demand draft of Rs 100/- is acceptable from SC/ST candidates, provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed. The drafts are not refundable.
  5. Applications should accompanied by attested copies of certificates and mark sheets mentioning the division obtained.
  6. TWO recent passport size photographs should be enclosed. One of these should be signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form.
  7. A self-addressed stamped (Rs. 10/-) envelope of 10cm x 22 cm should be enclosed.
  8. Applications and demand drafts should be sent to

    so as to reach on or before 22nd November 2008.
  9. Incomplete applications and those received after the closing date will not be entertained. The decisions of the Admission Committee will be final and binding, no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

    (ii) Date of issue
    (iii) value in rupees
    (iv) Bank drawn on
  3. Name of the applicant (in capital letters)
  4. Name of mother and father
  5. Whether belong to SC/ST
  6. Date of Birth
  7. Nationality
  8. Permanent Address
  9. Address for correspondence
  10. (i) Telephone number
    (ii) Telefax
    (iii) E-mail address
  11. Academic record: For each of the following examinations ,
    (i) Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent,
    (ii) Bachelors degree or equivalent, and
    (iii) Master's level degree or equivalent; please give the following information:
    (a) Name of examination,
    (b) Subjects,
    (c) University or Board,
    (d) Year,
    (e) Division or Class obtained, and
    (f) Aggregate percentage obtained.
  12. Results of CSIR-UGC NET/DBT-JRF/ICMR JRF/ICAR JRF examinations, If appeared
  13. Declaration: I declare that the information furnished above is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief, and that no related information is concealed. If any discrepancy is observed at any stage, IBSD will be free to cancel my selection/candidature.
