I am very happy to inform you that NASA Astronaut Edward Michael "Mike" Fincke, Commander of the Expedition 18 mission to the International Space Station (ISS), will talk live to the students of Central Agricultural University and Manipur University, Imphal at 3.35 pm on February 8, 2009 (Sunday). The talk will be for about 10 minutes.
The whole event has been organized by FASS. FASS International HQ is coordinating the event with NASA and FASS Manipur is coordinating the event with Central Agricultural University, in collaboration with Manipur University.
It is worthwhile to mention that prior to this event, FASS very successfully coordinated such space talks at Dibrugarh University,St. Anthony's College in Shillong and Axam Jatiya Vidyalaya in Guwahati, which were also first time in India at University and College levels.
But this time it will be unique because students from the North East states of India will talk live with an Astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS) – 350 kms above the surface of the Earth.
You are hereby invited to be a part of this unique experience. Please come and witness this rare and historic event, first time ever in India.
A few seats will be reserved for the FASS members and FASS invitees. Please take your seat before 1.30 pm. Please note that immediately after the Space Talk, a PRESS MEET will be held at the venue.
