Kusuma Foundation is a non-profit organization working towards improving the situation of under-privileged children in India. It invests in enhancing opportunities for education and quality of schooling through collaboration with various partners. As a key mandate, Kusuma encourages research in the areas of children and education and is pleased to announce the second national competition for Kusuma Young Researcher Award - 2010.
Last year, Kusuma Foundation has launched and successfully completed the first national young researcher’s competition with Dr Arockia Mariachelvi, of the Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore winning away the award and the prize money of Rs 2,00,000/- and Ms. Ashima Das of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai received prize money of Rs 1,00,000/- for being the runner up. The winners received the prizes from Mrs. Gursharan Kaur, wife of our Prime Minister in the presence of Union Minister for Women and Child development in a ceremony held in New Delhi on the 22nd January 2010.
I would request you to see the attached announcement for complete details and circulate to those students or professionals who are pursuing or completed M.Phil and Ph. D recently in Social Sciences and encourage them to apply before 15th of July 2010.
