FMP debate on "Media Coverage of Scandals - Lessons"
- 18th February, 2011 -
Organized by Foundation for Media Professionals
Dear Friend,
The improper allocation of scare resources by people in positions of trust and the loss caused to the nation has created considerable disquiet in the country. 2G airwaves have been given to chums.
Commonwealth Games contracts have been awarded to cronies at hugely inflated prices. Prime location apartments in Mumbai's Adarsh society at discounted rates have been exchanged for approvals.
The nation has been taken aback by the brazenness of the wheeling-dealing and the scale. But for the media these instances would not have been known.
Credit must go to individual journalists and the odd publication. They often fought the battle singly, without support from their editors.
Why is this so? What lessons can be drawn?
To debate this, the Foundation for Media Professionals and Nehru Memorial Museum and Library warmly invite you to:
Media on Corruption: Watchdog or Lapdog?
on Friday, 10.30 am to 1 pm
at Auditorium, Teen Murti Bhavan
followed by lunch.
For list of speakers, see accompanying poster
Thank you.
Warm regards,
Vivian Fernandes
