And I
K. Padmakumar *
I introduce myself
The word 'I' firmly affixed –
My body,
My mind.
There is always the 'I' joined to
The different outer organs
And also to the distinct facets of the mind!
I am in the body
I am not without the body, am I?
The body sleeps
Unaware of the human touch.
I do not sleep –
But dream I do.
After sleeping like a log
Not responding to the wake up calls
Unaware of the touch
I wake up and say
'I have had a good night's sleep!'
I wonder
How does the body know this
For it has slept soundly.
There must be one
Who never sleeps, then.
The soul does not at all sleep.
Always wide awake
The real man is.
