An open letter to the editor and publisher of Arihant GK books
9th September 2014
I am here to correct the following mistakes which were published in your esteemed General Knowledge 2010 (Arihant’s General Knowledge 2010, Page 78) and the subsequent editions wherein,
1. Tharo Kuki Rising should be Thadou-Kuki Rising. As the term Thadou is the right term recognized by the Government. The term “Tharo” is a distorted word and should not be used in place of Thadou. Any good historian interested in the north eastern state would easily confirmed this mistake.
2. Under the leadership of Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu should be replaced by Pu Chengjapao Doungel, King of Kukis (Kuki Raja) and the kuki chiefs. Jadonang and Gaidinliu were not even kukis. This is misleading. This wrong information you have published have confused lot of civil service aspirants and ignorant masses, especially in the mainland India.
So, please see the following documents for your references
1. http://www.kukination.net/history.php
2. Calm Blue Hills (A Book in NC Hills) Published by Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Assam. 2010, p. 169, under the heading Proud Remembrance.
3. Manipur Gazetted No. 14, Part-IX, 2011, under Chengjapao Doungel, Kuki Raja Foundation.
This has been very misleading and it is time the editorial team and contributors correct the above stated facts in the light of the evidence provided herewith. It is indeed a shame on the part of the contributors and editors that they have given such wrong facts without proper justification and have published nation-wide to mislead the younger generation who have had such faith in the book to give them some wrong information about some very patriotic and nationally important figures in the Indian history of freedom struggle.
I, therefore, regret the mistaken identity of the leadership of the Kuki Up-Rising 1917-1919, and appeal to you to make the necessary correction in your next esteemed publication. It would be a great pleasure on my part if I would be informed in written of the correction when done.
Thanking you in anticipation
yours faithfully
