All eyes on UNC as decision on lifting economic blockade expected
Morung Express | Imphal, November 26:
It appears that the coming Monday (November 28) is going to be a crucial day as some important decisions may be taken on that day by the United Naga Council (UNC), Sadar Hills District Demand Committee (SHDDC) and the State government of Manipur.
The United Naga Council after having met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi few days ago had already hinted that it might review its stand on the ongoing agitation on November 28. Chidambaram had appealed fervently to the UNC leaders in that November 22 meeting in New Delhi to lift the economic blockade. UNC is likely to hold a meeting on Monday.
With the time running out for the state government as per the MoU signed with the SHDDC the Monday meeting is going to be very crucial. The state government has also been facing tremendous pressure as it has the obligation to clear all the pending troubles facing the State before the high profile visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to Imphal to inaugurate various structures.
