Admission norms of students in private and aided schools
Date - 20th January, 2017
“Admission norms of students in private and aided schools under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) / Disadvantaged Groups (DG) category”. It is hereby informed to all Private Unaided Schools not receiving any kind or grant from the Government or Local Authority shall admit in Class I to the extent of at least 25% of the strength of the Class, as laid down under the provision Section 12(1)C of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 till its completion.
o All aided schools to provide free education to at least 25% children.
o Special category schools and unaided schools to admit in Class I at least 25% children, belonging Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG) from the neighborhood and provide free and compulsory elementary school.
o No capitation fee.
o No screening for admission.
o No school without recognition.
o Punishment with fine if any school charged capitation fee and Screening Procedure.
All the Principals / Headmasters of the recognized unaided private schools should follow the above guidelines at the time of admission children belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG) category.
The Commission has also directed to the Director of Education (Schools), Manipur to issue notification for admission under section 12(1)(C) of the RTE immediately. Any school violating the said norms, please report to the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR).
