Admission Notice for Sikkim University for the year 2012-2013

Sikkim University, a Central University, established by an Act of Parliament of India under the Sikkim University Act 2006 (10 of 2007) and came into existence on 2 July 2007.

Sikkim University is being designed in such a way so as to make it known for academic excellence and innovative interdisciplinary research; its all inclusive institutional character and a strong instrument of regional development and cross-border integration. The University expects to attract students and faculty members from both within India and abroad particularly from the immediate neighbouring countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Nepal and Thailand. The University is in the process to bring in the best practices of academic programmes, teaching methods and curriculum designing both from within and outside India.

Time Table for Admissions and Important dates to remember:

Last date for submission of filled application form along with Demand Draft: 25th April 2012
o Date of entrance examination: 12th and 13th May 2012
o Publication of merit list: 1st June 2012
o Registration of candidates selected (First List): 1st -15th June 2012
o Registration of candidates in Waiting List- I (Second List)*: 15th – 22nd June 2012
o Registration of candidates in Waiting List- II (Third List)*: 22nd– 29th June 2012
o Viva-Voce for the short listed M Phil- PhD candidates: 15th – 25th June 2012
o Registration for M Phil- PhD Students: 15th June 2012- 1st July 2012

Detailed information regarding admission procedure and eligibility, etc. is given in the Prospectus-cum-Application Form 2012-13 which can be obtained from the Sikkim University administrative building, located at 6th Mile Tadong, Gangtok from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm till 25th April 2012 against cash payment of Rs.250/-. It can also be obtained by post by paying Demand Draft of Rs.275/- in favour of Sikkim University. Applicants can also download the forms from Sikkim University website:
www.sikkimuniversity.in.

The examination fee for General candidates for each subject is Rs. 300/- and for SC/ ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently Abled (DA) candidates is Rs. 150/- . Entrance examination fee for each subject should be drawn as Demand Draft in favour of Sikkim University payable at Gangtok.

If you are downloading the application form from the website the application form and examination fee for General candidates for each subject is Rs. 550/- and for SC/ ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently Abled (DA) candidates is Rs. 400/- . The candidates belonging to these categories must attach the relevant certificate along with the filled application form while submitting the same. Entrance examination fee for each subject should be drawn as Demand Draft in favour of Sikkim University payable at Gangtok.
