Admission details of Sikkim University, Gangtok
Academic Session 2009-10
Sikkim University constituted under the Sikkim University Act 2006 (10 of 2007) came into existence on 2 July 2007. It is a Central University established and fully funded by the Government of India. It's objectives as defined in the Sikkim University Act 2006 are as follows:
(i) to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit;
(ii) to make provisions for integrated courses in humanities, natural and physical sciences, social sciences, forestry and other allied disciplines in the educational programmes of the University;
(iii) to take appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-learning process, inter-disciplinary studies and research;
(iv) to educate and train manpower for the development of the State of Sikkim;
(v) to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of that State, their intellectual, academic and cultural development.
Sikkim University fulfilled a long cherished aspiration of the people of the entire Eastern Himalayas particularly Sikkim to have a higher institution of learning. Being located in a peaceful, accessible and naturally magnificent surrounding, this new University is expected to contribute substantively to the nation building process by mobilizing the rich intellectual heritage of this region, by galvanizing the academic fervour and creative instincts of the youths and by developing agencies and institutions that will facilitate cross border interactions. It is being designed in such a way so as to make it known for academic excellence and research, for its all inclusive institutional character and a strong instrument of regional development and integration.

* BSc-MSc in Floriculture and Horticulture Management [Integrated Six Year Programme], Department of Floriculture and Horticulture Management, School of Sustainable Development and Livelihood Management.
* M A in International Relations/Politics, Department of International Relations/Politics, School of Global Studies.
* MA in Peace and Conflict Studies, Department of Peace and Conflict Studies and Management, School of Peace, Conflict and Human Security Studies.

2. Entrance examination fee for each subject should be drawn as Demand Draft in favour of Sikkim University payable at Gangtok. The examination fee for General and OBC candidates for each subject is Rs. 300/- and for SC/ ST/ DA candidates is Rs. 150/-.
3. Last date for the submission of the forms: 30th April 2009.
4. Seats Reserved for- SC - 15%; ST - 7.5%; OBC - 27%; DA – 3%.
