At Bangalore University

Minimum requirement for admission to Japanese language certificate course is Class 12 pass.

Those seeking for admission to Diploma, Advance Diploma etc in Japanese language should take the Japanese language written test on 22nd July 2007.

Issue of application form has started on 9th July 2007 and last date for the submission of application form is on 25th July.

Courses offered:
Certificate (1st year), Diploma (2nd year), Higher Diploma (3rd year), Advanced Diploma (4th year)

Eligibility:
For all the courses
- Pass in PUC
For the 2nd year course or above

Pass in previous year of the Japanese course, Bangalore University

Pass in an equivalent level at other universities & Pass in an entrance exam conducted by the Bangalore University
Pass in an equivalent level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) & Pass in an entrance exam conducted by the Bangalore University. (JLPT level 4 certificate holders are eligible to Diploma, Level 3 passers are to Higher Diploma.)

Calendar
July 10th , 2007 Admission starts
2nd week of August, 2007 Classes commence
March 2008 Lectures end
April 2008 Final exams

Course timings:
Regular Course (Mon.-Fri.)
4 times a week, 90-minute-class conducted between 4:00-7:30 pm.

Weekend Course (For Certificate Course only. Students of this course are required to attend both Saturday and Sunday.)
Saturdays 3:00-5:00 pm, Sundays 9:00am – 12:00pm

Fees:
Rs./2500-3500 range. It varies depending on the level you apply for.

Faculty:
At present, 4 teachers are assigned to teach. 3 of them are Japanese native teachers.

Japanese Language Extension Activities
For those who wish to learn in addition to regular Japanese courses of Bangalore University, the course “Japanese Language Extension Activities (JLEA)” is available.

This open-to-community course is run by the Japanese Language Advisor for South India from The Japan Foundation in collaboration with the faculty of Japanese language course, Bangalore University.

The program has 9 subjects;

“Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Preparation” Level 2,3,4
“JETRO Business Japanese Test (BJT) Preparation”
“Selection Exam Preparation for Japanese Government <MONBUKAGAKUSYOO:MEXT> Scholarship Program”
“Reading NIHON NO KOKORO”
“Writing and Speech”
“Japanese language teaching methodology”
“Brush up Japanese for teachers”
