I am writing this mail to ask you and your like minded friends and colleagues to consider our doctoral programme (called FPM: Fellow Programme in Management) at IIM Bangalore as part of career/professional enhancement.
I would like to invite you and your qualified friends and colleagues (engineering graduates with two years of work experience after graduation and post graduates in any discipline with or without experience) to apply for admission to our FPM. I would also like to enlist their support in giving wider publicity to this opportunity among like minded and highly motivated individuals.
For someone interested in doing business and management related doctoral study here in India, we offer prospects about as good as anywhere else in the country. To help you apply, we have greatly simplified the application process.
Just click on the link to our website below, download the applications forms, fill them in, and mail them to us with the required enclosures. We encourage you to submit a copy of your test score from CAT, GMAT, GRE, or GATE.
But we will also accept applications without any test score.
The last date for applying is Feb 29.
Interview calls should go by Mar 15, and the interviews that will include a written test called Research Aptitude Test, a multiple choice objective test along the lines of GMAT/CAT could be held on about Apr 10-11. Selected candidates could be notified by Apr 15. Classes begin around the last week of June.
Here are the top ten reasons why one may want to apply for admission to our FPM:
Our FPM is a full time, rigorous programme that prepares students for research careers in academia, industry and consulting.
It is recognised as equivalent to Ph.D. all over India and around the world.
FPM students do not pay any tuition fee or hostel rent, enjoy family medical insurance, and have access to a modest loan facility.
In addition to tuition waiver, FPM students get a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000 per month for a period of four years, extendable by another year.
They also get a contingency allowance of up to Rs. 150,000 for academic expenses during the programme.
FPM students get international exposure through a travel grant of up to Rs. 100,000 for presenting papers in conferences abroad and for participating in student exchange programmes with leading overseas universities.
Every year, three second/ third year FPM students get Infosys/EADS-SMI/SAP scholarships; each worth Rs. 900,000 disbursed over 3 years. Students getting a scholarship do not get the monthly stipend.
We provide single and married accommodation on campus. Married students choosing to live off-campus get an HRA of up to Rs. 5,000 per month.
Our FPM students participate in campus placement. About 20% of our alumni have joined leading business schools in India and abroad as faculty. The rest are working with investment banks, consulting firms, MNCs, IT companies, and other Indian corporate houses in India and abroad.
On an average, our FPM students take about five years to complete the programme. Some students in the past have completed the programme in four years or less. The maximum allowed period is seven years.
