A profile of Lin Laishram - A Model in New York City 2010
Lin Laishram was born in Imphal, Manipur. She left home at very early age to pursue her studies. While she was in school, her father encouraged her to enter in sports. Her father an avid sportsman himself and being the President of Manipur Archery Association for many years saw her talent in sports from a very early age.
She represented her state at the All India National Archery Championship in Rajasthan and she was the first Manipuri to get selected for Tata Archery Academy. She won many awards including best sportsperson of the year and also 1998 Junior National championship.
Due to many years of rigorous training, she suffered from an injury and could no longer play. She moved to the Mumbai city to persue her Higher education. she graduated from University of Mumbai as first class major in Sociology.
While she was in Mumbai she was discovered by world renown modeling agency "Elite Models". Her exotic looks and her tall structure was instant hit in the modeling world and soon she was the center of attraction for all the big designer and photographers.
She walked the prestigious Wills India Fashion Week. She was also offered movie assignment from bollywood movies. She also appeared in Bollywood superhit movie
"Om Shanty Om" and has small cameo role in "Hatrick". however she would not stop there.
Lin moved to NYC to further refine her skills in modeling and acting. While on a casting she was discovered by a world renowned jewelry company "Ozuro", who went on to sign her as their brand model. She also attended Stella Adlers and other acting schools in New York and in Bombay. She is working as she is involved with various projects right now.
Lin symbolizes the fact that Manipur is a land blessed with talented people and little push and right path can take Manipur on the global map. Lin has not forgotten her roots, she still enjoys the home cooked Eromba.
