A pent-up portrait, finally sketched, of Money-poor
Nongthombam Neebendra *
So many activities, and numberless occasions, too much talk, and a flurry of exemplifications...
On bringing peace and development, or suchlike, about a kingdom once, a glorious kingdom ancient...
About an antique land named as golden, a jewelled land,
of relics of sorts, and natural treasures bright and beautiful...
Rich customs, and high cultures very well defined,
still at particulars, the folks seem readily unrefined...
Wars are many, the symbolic revolutions remain verbal.
A strife torn state of affairs, the corruption thing so sorry...
Skyscrapers are built on foundations real solid and strong,
as visible in the great and glitzy cosmopolitan cities of far away...
So-called foundation in the grassroots, has been stark, and of now, while it is being laid for Money-poor land, in a fashion likewise...
A few men with a strand of thought, may see nothing much like a glimmer of pellucid hope...
A rising tide marked with the mainstream strangers’ influx, by and by, into commerce, and all urban points, the suburbs getting thickened...
A few men with a glimpse of vision, ought to see,
nothing much as a flicker of bright moonshine...
Good people, stubborn people, and a whole lot of stoic demagogues,
lives fully dependent on imported essentials, feeding on like caged birds...
Quite a few with a sense of more than truer patriotism, do feel and see,
a portentous dread, something like a plume of dark smoke at a distance.
