As a Manipuri we all would like to do something for our beloved motherland Manipur. So,lets ask ourselves what we can do for her. Can we die for her?
Definitely all the patriots would say yes to this question. But we all must know that dying is easy but to live for someone or something is not.
Death means free from any kind of burden, you'll be free from those responsibilities that make you go on. And by living you've to face many
undesirable things, those things which are really hard to deal with.
I don't know about other people but I'm going to live for her. By saying this I'm not implying that I'll forget about my personal
responsibilities that I owe to my family and those people who are close to me.
It's just my personal opinion that I'm going to share with you people and please don't take it as if I'm trying to impose my beliefs and values on
anyone. For it is a must for me to stand on my own feet and live my life without leaning on anyone, I must be an established person.
Before contributing your efforts to the betterment of the society in which you are staying, you have to do something for yourself. If you think that I'm
asking you to be selfish then you are right to some extent as I think a little bit of selfishness is for your own good as well as others'.
There isn't anyone who isn't selfish, why we've to be selfish because we all want to attain something which is a sort of common goal to all of us i.e.
happiness. Everybody wants to be happy.
In order to prove this statement we can cite some examples like that of burning midnight oil during your exam time when you actually want to get some sleep.
But instead you study hard though it's a bit of the pain in the neck. Why you were doing like that?
Because you want to get through the exam and it'll in turn make you happy which is the ultimate goal of you. It's same to our inclination
towards making our motherland a better place to live, as we are also longing for the happiness.
No matter how hard is the way to realise it. You may be wondering why I'm uttering these without coming to the point . What I'm fumbling to say is that what should
we actually do to uplift the condition of our motherland.
To say that others way of attaining the desired end is wrong is not what I want to say. But according to my own outlook I would rather opt for the other options that
I've in my mind which are apt alternatives to me.
Yes, I also agree that there is not the plethora of options at this moment, but at least we can think of some measures. Even if we've to go against the tide,
we must willingly accept it as the last resort.
I think it won't be wrong if all the people who are in Manipur have some kind of grievances with the prevailing system as a whole. Everybody
has to compromise on his values without his consent. Why do we have to do like this? Because we don't have the enough grit to face those things
which are ruining our lives, making us insecure in our own land.
There are so many factors that contribute to it. Who can stand against all odds? Who can summon up the enough courage to jeopardize his or her own
life for the cause that he or she is not sure whether their sacrifice will bring the desired result? Again I'm saying I don't know about others
but I can't.
Because, I'm too afraid to die now. There are so many things that I've to do before I die. I think I must get a decent job and
spend my life with my family in peace. Hey! Wait a minute; am I being so selfish that I forgot my due obligations to my motherland?
Not exactly, but for now this is the only thing that I can think of before taking up other steps. There are so many people that think just like me and most
of the people don't want to live in Manipur instead they like to settle in other places.
We can't say that they are wrong. If we are honest to ourselves then we'll also think like this, we can't deny the fact that we also thought
like that. This is a kind of dilemma for all the Manipuris. There are two choices in front of us, one is to leave Manipur and settle somewhere
leaving behind all the plights that people in Manipur is having while the other one is to live in Manipur and dream about the emancipation
from all types of ills and simultaneously suffering inside the system.
So which one should we chose? It's a tricky question and it stumped me when I asked myself this question for the first time. I think both the
options have positive as well as negative connotations. And I would like to leave the people on their own while taking the decision. I don't want
to comment on people's decision as they have absolute right to lead their own lives at their will.
I think it's time to ponder on such silly questions as it can change your lives for ever beyond your imagination. We all know that if the all
resourceful persons leave Manipur then there isn't any scope for Manipur to develop and if they stayed back in Manipur then they are putting
everything that they've at stake.
Honestly saying I really don't know what I should do in such complicated situations. I also want you people
to put a thought in this matter. Indeed it's a big dilemma to all of us.
