A View from the Window
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
I live
In the shadow of a man
I am not.
I see
A green tree swaying
In the gentle breeze of summer
With blue hills in the background.
This is a view from the window
Of my drawing room by the garden
And patches of white clouds
Are seen like long-legged birds
In the sky clad in sky-blue.
Colours!
There is no clash of colours
And I am not an illegal alien
In this overall scheme of things.
I have a sense of belonging here
Like a baby belongs with its mother.
A green tree is dancing
To the rhythm of the gentle breeze;
The green tree dances
To the rhythm of a soulful song
And the green hills send back a faint echo.
I see things
I hear voices
Then I realize
It is my imagination.
He who rights the wrongs!
Where is he?
Have you seen modern day Hercules
Who wrongs the right?
Is it the order of the day
I do not see myself?
I
And not I!
Does the two shake hands somewhere?
I wonder.
Of late I have noticed another person
Other than I and not I.
