A Twist of Fate
K. Radhakumar *
No understanding fate,
There is no understanding fate upstairs.
You
The people who live downstairs!
Let your thoughts turn inwards.
Let us smile in appreciation;
Let us say thanks for
No understanding fate.
The sunrise is painting the eastern horizon
With fine brush strokes.
All the yellows and pinks of the sunrise!
Ah! The whites and coloureds together
Are washed
In a sea of light blues.
What a wonder!
The daring late night exploits of the moon
Cannot dampen, cannot dampen
The spirits of the morning.
The sudden death of my mother
Brings back lots of good memories:
My father also died some years back.
When I was a child
I was my father's
And my mother's.
I grew up and I saw
My parents dying before my eyes.
Hey! That's it. That's it.
Their memory live on and I know
Death is not the occasion to mourn
But to sing the beauty of life.
For a split second
I seem to feel
Why Jesus was crucified
Though he was truthful.
This life, my life
Oh! It is extremely beautiful.
