A Rose Is Not Forever...
Marxus Aurelius *
Like a rose, you chanced upon my garden
Showed me the petals which embellish the Pearly Gates
But before I could smell the grace
I was made to realise, even roses have thorns
Memories strayed past the green holms.
The haunts where I was once sheltered from
It took me to a distant land
Passed the mountains to the mythical valley
Where never flows the river of misery.
Nostalgia met me in the eye
Like the clouds scattered in the sky
But it hold me in a tight embrace
So, I got no other choice, I had to cry
When tears began to form in my eye
Life can never be a fairytale
Though glimpses of it can seem magical
Because after the moments, comes the misery
Of grief, anguish, disappointment and pain
And memories of standing alone in the rain
Like the fairy you are, you came
Like the fairy you are, you went away
Like the tidal waves, you came and went
Without ever a pause to ponder by
Why you came to me if for such a big lie
My dream lay shattered and my world grew cold
My castle lay trampled, but it is time to move on
Life is beautiful, life goes in circles
So after the moments of sorrow, will come my moments of joy
And again it will be time for me to rejoice
Roses have thorns, but ugly duckling turns into swan
Its petals will wilt away, only its thorns will remain
Nothing can withstand time, nothing is everlasting
Beauty isn’t everything, a rose is not forever.
