A Lyrical Evening
K. Radhakumar *
Drunk I am
With the joy of living
A contented life.
A contented life –
Not because of riches and pleasure.
However hard up I am,
I stay content;
I have a full life
Pain and pleasure
Happiness and misery
I have learnt to face facts.
The sea is calm
Devouring patterns of ripples.
A baptism of fire in the morning
Is the herald
Of a wonderful time in the evening.
Overall, life is wonderfully beautiful.
Beautiful, wonderfully beautiful.
What is marriage
If the stakeholders concerned
Are not willing to take the consequences?
I thank my parents
Who are now dead
For bringing me up here
And also for giving me a name –
Our locality echoes back the music
Of my friends calling my name.
Today I say
Thank you very much
For bringing me up in this world.
The fleeting moment of togetherness
Metamorphoses into a poem of love.
Do germs and disease figure
In my scheme of things?
Who has set a place for me
In this sea of humanity?
There is not always an answer
To every question.
Have a nice day!
