ARThinkSouthAsia, a program in Arts Management and Cultural Policy, is addressed to today's cultural practitioners. ARThinkSouthAsia is an initiative of the South Asian network of Goethe Institutethe cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany and The British Council - the United Kingdom's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, and held in cooperation with Khoj International Artists' Association.
The ARThinkSouthAsia Fellowship is designed to help develop skills, knowledge, networks and experience of potential leaders in the cultural sector of South Asia, which includes museums, the visual and performing arts and digital media. We believe that by supporting exceptional individuals to make a step-change in their skills and career potential, we can bring substantial benefit to the cultural field as a whole.
10-15 Fellows will be selected from across South Asia.
The Fellowship includes:
o A two-week residential course in May 2016.
o A secondment/internship in Germany/UK/South Asia over the year 2016-17. Shortlisting will take place based on an application process.
o A concluding seminar in May 2016 (to be confirmed).
The two-week residential course in 'arts management' is aimed at arts/culture professionals to prepare them for managerial and leadership roles in an arts/culture organisation. The course is designed to include a balance of theory and professional training and consists of five to six modules which include latest thinking in cultural management in areas such as strategic planning, marketing & communication, financial planning, fundraising, cultural policy, human resources, and digital media. These modules will be led by a mix of Indian and international professional trainers and academics and will be supplemented by expert guest lectures. Participation in the residential programme is mandatory.
The shortlisted participants will be offered a four-week secondment/internship best suited to his/her needs, interests and objectives in an arts organization in Germany/UK/South Asia during the year.
The Fellow may be required to attend a closing seminar at the end of the Fellowship year to present and share updates on his/her project and learnings of the secondment with the new Fellows of 2017-18.

Application:
We welcome applications from practitioners working across a wide range of creative and cultural activity, as also from those who are working outside it who demonstrate knowledge, understanding and passion for culture. Artists and persons with unconventional careers and experiences are also invited to apply.
Each participant is required to apply with an ongoing project. The residential course is oriented to effective management and growth of arts organisations. The applicant's proposal should highlight the needs of his/her organisation/project for building an efficient and sustainable arts organisation. The applicants are encouraged to describe the project in as much detail as possible to allow for an understanding of the scope of the project and skills they need to develop for its successful implementation. Curatorial and research projects are not applicable for this fellowship.
Eligibility Criteria:
o Minimum graduate degree from a recognized university or equivalent professional qualifications and experience of at least 3 years either in employment or freelance.
o Submission of an on-going project.
o Two letters of recommendation with contact details of referees (from relevant educational/professional sources).
o Open to South Asian residents only.
Timeline:
Wednesday, 30 December 2015: Deadline for receipt of applications.
Sunday, 28 February 2016: Notification to short listed applicants.
Monday, 7 March 2016: Receipt of acceptance letters from selected applicants.
Early May 2016: Commencement of 2-week residential course.
