World AIDS Day 2008 :: A message

Leadership is the theme for World AIDS Day 2007 and 2008, promoted with the campaigning slogan, "Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise."
Leadership encourages leaders at all levels to stop AIDS. Building on the 2006 theme of accountability, leadership highlights the discrepancy between the commitments that have been made to halt the spread of AIDS, and actions taken to follow them through.
Leadership empowers everyone - individuals, organisations, governments - to lead in the response to AIDS.

Today is WORLD AIDS DAY. On this let us resolve to make an AIDS Free Kangleipak. We must not involve any high risk behaviour like sex with sex workers without condom, drug abuse, live in relationship, premarital sex etc.
We should spread correct information to all ignorant people. There are many people who are literate but they do not know much about the real threat posed by AIDS. Many People beleive that if one is HIV infected, he will die very soon.
It is true in one sense that HIV infected have shorter live span than the general unaffected people.
But, many unaffected people die before HIV infected ones due to various other causes like diarrhoea, dehydration, malaria, typhoid, dengue haemorrhagic fever, japanese encephalitis, bird flu, TB, pneumonia, coronary artery disease leading to myocardial infarction which is popularly known as Heart Attack, brain stoke, suicide, homicide, accident, road traffic accident, fatal bullet injury which is quite common in kangleipak and many more.
We should not treat HIV infected as untouchable. They are just like any other disease affected patients. Any HIV infected person should try to avoid marriage, even if they marry they should use various contraceptives like condom, diaphragm, copper T, Oral contraceptive pill like FEMILON, MALA D, MALA N because having a HIV infected baby is quite dissapointing and frustrating.
Here, we should know one thing that the chance of HIV transmission from mother to baby is less than 50 percent, it is not 100%. Many HIV infected mothers also deliver normal unaffected babies.
