AAP knocks at Sharmila door
The Telegraph | Khelen Thokchom | Imphal, Aug. 11:
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today requested rights crusader Irom Sharmila to contest the Assembly elections on the party's ticket, promising that it would project her as its chief ministerial candidate.
The AAP is the second party in Manipur coming out to support Sharmila. Janata Dal (United) had already announced that it would support Sharmila in her electoral battle as an Independent candidate next year. A three-member team of the AAP's Manipur unit, headed by convener Thoudam Manihar, met Sharmila in her room at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences here for about half-an-hour.
