72nd day: Orgs demand revocation of Manipur eco-blockades

With the SHDDC and UNC backed economic blockades in Manipur entering the 72nd day and 51st day; various organizations-- Womenfolk of Sagolband and Wahengbam, Imphal along with members of various local clubs in Manipur staged a sit-in protest Tuesday at Wahengbam bus parking in the heart of Imphal city drawing attention to revoke the economic blockades.
“Don’t take people ransom for a demand from the government” read one of the placards displayed at the sit-in protest even as a students’ rallied at Sapermaina of Kangpokpi demanding immediate declaration of Sadar Hills as a full-fledged district of Manipur.
“Imposing economic blockade is a crime against humanity. Organisations should stop indulging in such kinds of crime. They should leave the habit of taking people ransom for a certain demand from the government,” one of participants strongly lamented.
