47th Nagas Annual Meet / Fresher's Meet at Mumbai
The Naga Students’ Union Mumbai (NSUM) celebrated its 47th Nagas Annual Meet cum Fresher’s Meet on August 25 at Marathi Bhasha Bhavan, University of Mumbai, Kalina, Santacruz. It was a colorful event celebrating the unity in diversity and rich culture
and tradition and by welcoming the freshers in their midst.
The Guest of honour for the event, Shri. Anil Kumbhare IPS, Deputy Commissioner of the Police Zone-8, Mumbai, in his speech expressed his admiration for the rich culture and tradition of the Nagas, the simple way of living and happiness the region possessed and
expressed his desire to visit the state. He exhorted the students saying that Mumbai , known as the city of dreams and a city full of opportunities, has been rewarding all those who have worked hard and followed their dreams.
He also expressed that the police department has been rendering their best services for the safety of the northeast people in Mumbai and extended full support to the Nagas in cases of any emergencies. He also proposed a novel
idea to the northeast people to be more interactive with the locals in Mumbai and hence spread the awareness about the northeast regions.

Meanwhile, the President of NSUM, Pijamo Ngullie , enlightened the audience by sharing valuable lessons from his life experiences. He emphasized on having hope despite all odds and taking action to achieve the dreams and reminded the freshers to always put
God first in all their endeavors.
The first session started with an invocation prayer by Hamyan Phom, Pastor NCF Mumbai, followed by a welcome song by the United Band. Mr. Thotmahai Raingam, Advisory board member, NSUM gave the exhortation speech followed by special songs by
Ms. Zuchobeni Tungoe and Mr. Livingstone Kashung. Speech on behalf of freshers was given by Dr. Mhechekhro Mero and the outgoing speech by Ms. Singyaphi Jagoi. Mrs Rebecca Changkija Sema, Ms. Keren Sumi and Dr. Johnson Chithung and Mr. Ningsang
Jamir also exhorted and inspired the students by giving valuable live lessons from their own experiences.
Rev. Gleever Lungleng, Pastor, Tangkhul Baptist church, Mumbai, offered a prayer for freshers. The session ended with a prayer by Mr. Wungmathing Zimik, Pastor, LRM, Kalina.
In the second session, there were a plethora of cultural activities including, traditional attire shows, fashion shows and exhibition of talents from individuals and groups alike.
After various rounds of testing the ingenuity and personality of freshers, Ms. Zuchonbeni Tungoe and Dr. Mhechekhro Mero were crowned Ms. Fresher and Mr. Fresher respectively. The cultural event concluded with vote of thanks from Ms Worshangphy
Horam, Gen. Secretary NSUM. The closing prayer was pronounced by Mr. Mr.Chihanngam Meiphok.
