2015- Manipur witness increase in insurgency related fatalities

According to a report compiled report, 94 people died in insurgency related fatalities during the just ended 2015. Of the 94, 17 were civilians, 24 were security force. The number of insurgents killed during the period was 53. The fatality number of security personnel died in counter insurgency operation rose up as the deadliest attack on the army in recent years that claimed at least 18 soldiers and injured to another 11 was in June of the year (2015).
Despite this incident, however, the general security environment in the state has seen marked improvement over the past seven years. Indeed, according to reports, 54 fatalities [20 civilians, 10 Security Force (SF) personnel and 24 militants] were recorded in the state in 2014, as compared to 55 [21 civilians, six SF troopers, 28 militants] in 2013.
