13th NEC Tamchon Football Tournament Kick Off

Another season of the most coveted football tournament cum cultural event for the North-East community in Delhi, the 13th NEC Tamchon Football Tournament 2019 kicked off on Saturday, 26th Oct 2019 at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi.
The event was graced by Dr.Lorho S. Pfoze, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, as the Chief Guest. Distinguish guest of honour Suakzathang Nunthuk (IRS), Special guest Shri. Losi Dikho PHED Minister and Shri. khashim Vashum MLA attended the event.
The tournament was held under the theme 'Unity, Friendship, Understanding and Sportsmanship’. Since 2007 the Tangkhul Naga Society Delhi (TNSD) curated the event with the ultimate intension to foster unity in diversity by obliterating the barriers of insularity and exclusivism.
The event was also sponsored by NEC Ministry of DoNER, COSCO, Oil India Limited, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GOI and Ministry of Home Affairs.
The event witnessed many talented performances by vocal artists; vibrant Khasi War Dance by Ki Samla Khasi Ha Nongbah group and Nocte traditional dance from Arunachal Pradesh.
Overall 16 teams will be competing in the 15 days long tournament for the highly sought-after trophy The Tamchon.
The prizes for the winners of the tournament are arranged as INR 6 lac, INR 3 lac and INR 2 lac respectively for the winner, first runner up and second runner up.
The first match of the Tournament between the dynamic duo SSPP vs Muvanlai Athletics was won by SSPP scoring 2-0. Both teams showed great team spirit.
All in all the first kick off day of the 13th NEC Tamchon Trophy concluded with a promising start.
