Meet Rejoice Singh and Simi Phanjoubam, Make-up and Prosthetic Designer
Duo behind Bala Hijam Ningthoujam's captivating look in 'Lembi Leima'

Bala Hijam Ningthoujam's 'Lembi Leima' is enjoying some insane praises at the various International Film Festivals winning Best Indian Short film, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor. The movie officially had its Northeast India Premiere at the 1st Northeast India International Film Festival, Dimapur.

The reason Bala Hijam Ningthoujam looks quite convincing as her character, is because she has worked extremely hard for it. Bala's transformation, both physically and with the help of stellar prosthetics and makeup, to look the part. And the credit for her look goes to the make-up and prosthetic designer duo, Rejoice Singh and Simi Phanjoubam.

For the transformation, Bala had to undergo an intense makeup and prosthetic session with Rejoice and Simi. Right from getting her unkempt and messy look right to getting the perfect skin colour and body transformation, the actress aced the look.

Commenting on her experience of working on the movie and Bala Hijam Ningthoujam, Simi says, "This was my first experience in the Manipuri Film Industry and it was quite a different and surreal one. The experience working with Bala Hijam Ningthoujam is an unforgettable memory."

"There aren’t enough words to describe Bala's dedication towards her roles because she gives it all. My experience working with her has been fabulous. She is a full-on entertainer. She dives into her character fully; the moment she comes on screen you don’t feel like watching anything else. She can overpower the whole frame I feel. Plus, her dedication towards her characters, her patience with makeup is very commendable. It makes the technician’s job very easy when you are in sync with the actress at a lot of levels," Rejoice adds.

Lembi Leima is directed by Mayank Pratap Singh, Produced by Bijou Thaangjam and Rj and also stars Bijou Thaangjam, Naveen Jagbir Sandhu and Niranjoy Luwangcha besides Bala Hijam Ningthoujam.
