Three personalities from Manipur were among the 23 Unsung Heroes of the North East named for the 1st North East Unsung Heroes and were awarded the Red Carpet social award in the presence of Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Governor of Maharashtra. The event was hosted by Find Studioz in association with Seil.

The three winners from Manipur included June Rose Vaiphei, Moirangthem Loiya and Ngangom Bala Devi.

June Rose Vaiphei, a former member of the Manipur State Commission for Manipur worked tirelessly to make paraben free handmade soap and raise money for education of orphans. The feeling of giving back to the society, in any form, is the greatest feeling ever, said Find Studioz in a statement and added "We have heard hundreds of stories where good samaritans have gone that extra mile to provide for the less fortunate.

Likewise, Manipur-based June Rose Vaphei is showing the world how even a small business can help those in need". June Rose Vaiphei started her business enterprise of organic soaps during 2017 and from that time, she has been successful. She stated that these aromatic plants and fruits have advantages on physical condition and nourishes the skin.

Moirangthem Loiya has single-handedly replanted a 300-acre forest in Manipur and saved over 250 species of plants. The contribution of Loiya is all that remarkable given the fact that all forest cover in the country is depleting at an alarming rate.

Not only that, every now and then, development under the garb of urbanisation takes place thereby affecting natural resources, said the statement and added that if a forest paves way for a new building, it becomes imperative that the affected tree/s should be replanted somewhere else but that never happens.

Keeping all this in mind, Moirangthem Loiya from Uripok Khaidem Leikai in Imphal West wanted to take the matter of depleting forest cover into his own hands and replanted Punshilok forest in Langol hill-range in 17 years.

Today, the forest area covers 300 acres, 250 species of plants and 25 species of bamboo grow at Punshilok forest and it is home to a variety of birds, snakes and wild animals. His story is an inspiration for all given how much flora and fauna he has saved single-handedly, added the statement.

Ngangom Bala Devi is an Indian woman footballer who plays as a forward for Manipur Police Sports Club and the India women's team. She was the captain of the Indian National women team.
