A Resounding Tribute to the Courage and Vision of Freedom Fighter

The Rongmei Phwam Delhi (RPD), in collaboration with the Rongmei Chamnac Phwam Delhi (RCPD), commemorated the 92nd Anniversary of Haipou Jadonang's Martyrdom Day through an insightful and inspiring virtual event conducted via Zoom Meeting on August 29, 2023, at 08:00 PM (IST).

Mr. Levi Thaimei, Chairman of RPD, led the event as the moderator, extending a warm welcome to attendees while outlining the program's schedule. The commemoration served as a heartfelt tribute to Haipou Jadonang (1905-1931), an extraordinary freedom fighter whose unwavering courage and visionary leadership left an indelible mark in history.

A significant moment during the event was the observance of a minute of silence as a profound tribute to Haipou Jadonang's sacrifice and contributions. A key highlight of the event was the presence of Mr. Kadimna Gangmei, Advisor of RPD, who graced the occasion as the esteemed resource person.

Mr. Gangmei eloquently recounted the life and achievements of Haipou Jadonang, drawing inspiration from his remarkable journey. Despite facing limited access to formal education, Haipou Jadonang's bravery blazed a trail in the face of adversity, as he fearlessly fought against British colonialism.

Mr. Gangmei emphasized the significance of leadership grounded in integrity, urging attendees to nurture their inherent qualities, and to refrain from relying solely on government initiatives while combatting corruption. He underscored the importance of self-reliance and exhorted the audience to embrace patriotic leadership coupled with a visionary approach to uplift society.

Additionally, he highlighted the invaluable contributions of both Haipou Jadonang and Haipei Rani Gaidinliu, urging the audience to honor and respect these pivotal freedom fighters who courageously stood against injustice.

He shed light on the misunderstandings surrounding Rani Gaidinliu's religious beliefs and the wrong accusation against Haipou Jadonang alleging him responsible for killing a few betel leaf traders, underscoring the importance of rectifying these historical inaccuracies and recognizing their visionary roles.

In his address, Mr. Gangmei also stressed the need to love, uplift, and support the Rongmei community, advocating for equality and mutual assistance. The event featured an interactive Question and Answer session, allowing participants to engage in a meaningful dialogue with Mr. Gangmei. The subsequent discussions were enlightening and productive, enhancing the depth and significance of the event.

As the commemoration drew to a close, Mr. Levi Thaimei extended a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants for their active engagement. The event's resounding success stands as a testament to the enduring relevance of Haipou Jadonang's ideals and the unwavering commitment of RPD and RCPD to preserve and promote his legacy.
