Jadonang Park at Tamenglong renovated

Jadonang park in Tamenglong commemorates Haipou Jadonang, a great freedom fighter from Manipur. He fought valiantly against the British Raj . In 1982, Jadonang memorial was also inaugurated in the park by Rani Gadinliu, another great freedom fighter from Manipur and a Padma Bhusan awardee. Located in the heart of the Tamenglong town, the iconic park is an identity of town and hub of all social and cultural gatherings.

Over a period of time the condition of park deteriorated. As a part of its initiatives under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and 'Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan', the unit took upon itself to renovate the park and dedicate it to the local populace.

Boosting its efforts to create a clean, green, sustainable and disease free environment 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/IGAR (East) carried out shramdans and started renovation of Jadonang Park from 06 Apr 2022 onwards. The renovated and revamped park was finally dedicated to the local populace on 01 June 2022.

The makeover of park was started by unit troops, by carrying out area cleanliness and garbage removal cum disposal as part of 'Swach Bharat Abhiyaan'. At the same time unit created awareness among masses about the importance of cleanliness.

Taking inspiration from the soldiers, the locals of Tamenglong town, joined the cleanliness drive within park, providing an apt example of 'Jan Bagidhari' for a clean and green world. Under 'Van Mitra' campaign, unit carried out weeding and tilling of flower beds and planted new flower and tree saplings. The batallion carried out these campaigns while performing the day to day professional duties, so that a clean hygienic working atmosphere could be created.

The revamped park with repaired walk ways, flower beds and wooden hedges was dedicated to the locals on 01 June 2022.
