Launch of Cancer OPD Services at Guwahati

Delhi’s BLK Super Speciality Hospital extends medical expertise in Guwahati with the launch of Cancer OPD Services in the region
o The surgical oncology OPD has been opened in association with Guwahati-based Instacare Clinic
o Top oncologists from Delhi will visit the OPD once a month for consultation

Delhi’s renowned 650-bed BLK Super Speciality Hospital today launched its first surgical oncology OPD in Guwahati for cancer patients in partnership with the city-based Instacare Clinic. This is another patient-centric step taken by the healthcare provider to empower patients with accessibility to quality healthcare services. The facility will provide expert advice and treatment for head and neck cancer, breast cancer, lung and esophagus cancer, urological cancer, robotic surgery and minimal access surgery for cancer.

The OPD services were launched by leading oncology surgeons from the BLK Cancer Centre, Dr. Surender Dabas, HOD, Surgical Oncology & Robotic Surgery, and Dr. Bikram Kumar Deka, Consultant, Surgical Oncology & Robotic Surgery who will also be visiting the OPD once a month for consultation.

The hospital decided to launch the services as the North East region is seeing an alarming rise in incidence of cancer. The National Cancer Registry Programme Report (NCRP), 2020, recorded the highest incidence of cancers in Northeastern India between 2012 and 2016. OPDs will be conducted at Instacare Clinic and the services will be operational on specific days of every month to allow ease of access for patients for consultations.

With the launch of the OPD services, patients across age brackets, socio-economic backgrounds, etc. can avail the best consultation and treatment in Guwahati and nearby regions, without the inconvenience of travelling to a different city.

At the launch, Dr Surender Dabas said, “With the launch of our OPD services in Guwahati, the unit will be able to serve to more patients in the city and nearby region. We have already established ourselves as a tertiary care facility by virtue of having state of the art technology and a blend of the finest medical and surgical skills but now our focus is to cater to the people in other cities so that the quality of life becomes better.

The centers are equipped with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, operation theatres, highly qualified nursing and support staff along with internationally trained clinicians who are among the best in the country. The focus towards improving the techniques and technologies has made surgeries safe, minimally invasive and cost-effective.

This kind of super-specialized surgical OPD offering high-end expertise and cancer care was long a demand of patients in Guwahati. With its opening, they can now benefit from the same high quality medical advice as available to patients in Delhi. All surgeries will be conducted at BLK Hospital while pre and post-operative care will be provided at the OPD along with consultation and medical advice to patients.”

Dr. Bikram Kumar Deka said, “At BLK Super Specialty Hospital, our endeavor is to equip the common man with relevant information pertaining to cancer related issues. To combat this lifestyle disease, our OPDs will offer consultation and will encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle. India is seeing an alarming rise in number of cancer cases and is already being referred to as the cancer capital of the world.

Patients beyond the big metros find it difficult to avail world-class cancer care and incur huge costs in long distance travel. We have a vision to extend our tertiary healthcare services in smaller towns and cities across the country. This OPD is going to be a valuable addition to the healthcare infrastructure of Guwahati by providing world-class treatment solutions to cancer patients in the city right at their doorsteps. Our comprehensive services will include all consultations and investigations and providing end to end services for the treatment.

Over the past years, BLK Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi has been actively working towards offering international standards of healthcare facilities in different regions across the country.

Dr Firoz Ahmed, Dr Mahamaya Prasad Singh & Dr Rahul Verma from Instacare Clinic said, “We are happy to collaborate with one of the leading healthcare providers of Delhi and would like to thank Dr. Surender Dabas, his team and BLK Super Speciality Hospital for taking this initiative. We are hopeful that this OPD service and consultation from experts will be immensely beneficial for our netizens”.

The OPD is located at:

Shop No. 1, Pabitra Ram Barooah Apartment, FA Road,
Opp. Central Bank of India,
