7th CMS Vatavaran to dedicate film festival to Brahmaputra

Guwahati city will soon be hosting the 7th edition of this international festival with a focus on mighty Brahmaputra river
CMS VATAVARAN, India’s first film festival is bringing their interesting line-up of environmental films and programmes to Guwahati city. The festival, CMS VATAVARAN Brahmaputra River International Festival is scheduled to be held from September 7th to 11th, 2016 in Guwahati.
It aims to bring together filmmakers, conservationists, children, youth, journalists and policy through its innovatively curated programmes. The theme of the 2016 travelling edition will be Water for Life, and commensurate to the theme, it will be an amalgamation of celebration and discourse with film screenings, forums on critical water issues, panorama of green films on Assam, workshops on filmmaking, nature trails and much more.
As part of this unique festival, CMS VATAVARAN will be awarding two individuals for their conservation efforts in the state. The Green Ambassador Awards 2016 aims to recognize conservationists in Assam for their selfless work in the field of water. The winners of the awards will be felicitated during the gala inaugural ceremony in September. The Call for Nomination of the Green Ambassador award was officially announced here.
Speaking at the press meet, Mr Sundeep C Srivastav, Head- Coordination of CMS VATAVARAN said that the festival aims to celebrate the importance of the mighty river, Brahmaputra. “Contemporary issues related to Brahmaputra river and other water bodies in Assam will be deliberated upon by eminent conservationists, policy makers, environment journalists and the concerned communities various forums. Water for life being a cross cutting theme necessitates a multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder participation in discussions to address the issues in a holistic manner. An impressive line-up of programmes and screenings will be curated in collaboration with our Guwahati partners,” said Mr Srivastav.
Coming together for this five day film festival are the Assam Science and Technology and Environment Council, Azury Communications, Directorate of Art & Culture, Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Mass Communication and Journalism, Cotton College as partners. The festival is a multi-partner initiative and will be collaborating with other stakeholders in the coming months.
Mr Pranjal Bordoloy, CEO of Azury Communications said, “CMS VATAVARAN is an internationally acclaimed initiative where films and forums are used as outreach mediums. Azury Communications in its capacity as the Organising Partner will be working closely with the New Delhi team in curating, promoting and mobilizing stakeholders for this festival.”
